Obituary

Cynthia M. Evans, 66, of Cassville, NY, formerly of Utica, passed away on February 14, 2026, at the Lutheran Home in Clinton, NY.

Cynthia was born on May 6, 1959, in Utica, New York, the daughter of the late Robert Evans and Maureen Wojtowicz. She was a graduate of West Seneca School in Buffalo and went on to earn her LPN from the Utica School of Nursing.

Cynthia dedicated her life to caring for others. Over the years, she worked in nursing homes including Waterville, Oxford Nursing and St. Luke’s Nursing Home, as well as providing private care and working with U.S. Care Systems. Her compassion and natural ability to connect with people made her not just a nurse, but a true comfort to the many lives she touched.

She was a proud member of the Auxiliary at Post 92. Outside of her work, Cynthia found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved birds, going to the casino and playing slot machines, joking around, crafting, but most of all, spending time with her family. Her greatest pride was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Cynthia is survived by her life partner, Rick Williams; her children, Michael James (Danielle), Giovanni Evans, and Nicole DeVincenzi (Ed); her cherished grandchildren, Andrew(Mckenzee), Giovanni Jr., Juan, Brittany, Mya, Carter, Jamison, and Quinn; and her great-grandchildren, Josee and Westlee. She is also survived by her brothers, Gary Evans (Theresa) and Jon Evans (Laura); her special nieces, Mary Rose and Andrea; and her dear life long friend, Debbie Brown; as well as many other beloved nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her siblings, Debbie, Bobby, Ricky, and Missy; and her niece Heather.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to her caregiver, Carrie, for the kindness and support shown to Cynthia.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 1123 Court St., Utica, NY. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro, NY.

Cynthia will be remembered for her laughter, her loving heart, and the unwavering care she gave so freely to others.
