Cynthia A. Ryan (62), was granted her angel wings on July 24, 2023, after a fierce and fearless battle with cancer. She was born in Syracuse, NY on September 8, 1960, the daughter of William and Anne (Stinziano) Ryan. She received her education through Onondaga Community College and the Empire College in Syracuse. Cyndi worked her entire career in pediatrics at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. She loved helping patients and being part of her beloved UPAC community. After retirement, Cyndi split her time between Englewood, FL and Otter Lake, NY. More recently she worked at Thendara Golf Course in Thendara, NY and the Myakka Golf Course in Englewood, FL.

Cyndi had a full life in her early years in Syracuse. She grew up very close to her parents and regularly shared their wisdom with others. Spending holidays with her brothers Bill (Jennifer) and Michael (Sheila) and their families were some of her most cherished memories and those traditions continue. She especially loved her nieces and nephews and their children.

Cyndi met her person, and constant companion, Joyce (Joycie) Ryan 25 years ago. They enjoyed the beaches in Florida, where Cyndi became very involved in the Englewood Beach Condo Association. They especially loved their trips to Key West, Costa Rica, and Lake Vanare near Lake George. Cyndi had many longtime dear friends including Judy (Robert) MacDonald, Brian Lostumbo, Kiki Gancarz and so many others; it would be impossible to name them all. Cyndi had so many friends because she was the friend everyone wanted to have. She had such a large and vibrant presence and knew how to bring out the best in everyone. Cyndi gave her heart and soul to everything she did and made everyone feel special; she loved with all her heart.

Cyndi loved all animals, tended bar to raise money for the SPCA, and donated to many other animal rescue groups. She wanted all animals to find loving homes and cherished many dogs throughout her life. In her twenties and thirties, Cyndi enjoyed bowling, softball, and card games. In retirement, Cyndi embraced the snow-bird lifestyle. In the summer months, Cyndi wanted nothing more than to be on her boat, “The Anna Banana” enjoying a cold Mich Ultra (or two) with her family for a “smell the pines” tour on Otter Lake. In the winter, Cyndi loved a sunset happy hour on Manasota Beach and frequenting many of the local waterside restaurants. Tina Turner, the little min pin, was always at her side. Cyndi was a lifelong and loyal NY Jets fan.

Cyndi enjoyed life to the fullest and her smile and warmth always brightened the room. She truly adored her two Ryan families and her friends. She will be missed tremendously.
She is survived by Joyce Ryan and her children (whom Cyndi considered her own), Kayla Cocquyt (Greg), and Daniel Ryan, and her four-legged child Tina. Her brother William (Jennifer) Ryan, their children Meghan and William (Tia). Her brother Michael’s children, Peter (Laura), Daniel, and Kelly Merrill (Mark) and their children Leah and Rylie.

She is predeceased by her parents William & Anne Ryan and brother Michael Ryan.

Joyce’s parents, Jack and Carole Yntema, considered Cyndi to be a fourth daughter.
Cyndi leaves behind Carole Yntema and her “sisters” Linda (Bob) Vandewater and Mary Carole Griffin and her children Abby and Connor. She is predeceased by Mary Carole’s husband Martin and Jack Yntema.

The calling hours will be Sunday from 12 – 2pm followed by a service at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd, New Hartford, NY 13413.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating to an animal rescue organization of your choice.
