For many years, he served as an umpire for high school and collegiate games. He was a proud member of the New Hartford American Legion Post 1376, and served several years in its color guard. He loved the Yankees, music, and was passionate about his country. He tirelessly provided care for his wife after a traumatic brain injury for 30 years before her passing in 2009.
