Charles “Chuck” Alton Barber, of Rome, NY, fell asleep in death peacefully on March 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Chuck was born September 17, 1959, in Syracuse, NY. From an early age he carried a lively, competitive spirit. He became an Eagle Scout, played high school football, and was known as the kind of person who could bring life to any room. Music was always close to his heart—he loved playing guitar and singing with friends.

In his younger years, Chuck began studying the Bible with fellow music lovers and soon dedicated his life as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. From then on, his faith shaped who he was. Whether in his ministry or while working in his trade installing carpet, Chuck was always eager to share the Bible’s message about God’s Kingdom with anyone willing to listen.

Chuck loved being active and outdoors. Football, basketball, tennis, bowling, camping, fishing, hiking, and archery were just a few of the things that brought him joy. He also had a love for friendly competition—whether playing chess, cards, or building and flying remote-control airplanes and helicopters. He had a curious mind and a deep passion for learning.

He was always happiest with people—sharing music, laughter, and meaningful conversations. Chuck regularly volunteered his skills to help build and finish Kingdom Halls throughout Central New York, installing carpet in many of them.

Above all, Chuck loved his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Antasha; his children, Matthew and Evelyn; their spouses, Jenny and Ryan; and his five cherished grandchildren, Marley, Owen, Hadley, Aubrey, and Leona. He took great pride in each of them.

Chuck loved his wife deeply, treasured his family, and most of all loved and served his God, Jehovah.
