Mrs. Carol (Murray) Fuchs, age 89, of New Hartford and formerly of Utica, died peacefully with her son by her side, on March 2, 2023, at Pacifica Victoria Court in Rhode Island. Born Carol Francis Murray in Utica, daughter of R. Ward and Margaret (Harris) Murray, she was educated in Utica and attended St. Joseph College in Maryland. She married John (Jack) Fuchs on August 6, 1955 at The Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, where she was also a member.

Carol was a legal secretary for the law offices of Willard Healy, and Philip Rayhill, and later for Rayhill & Rayhill. Always an active part of the community, she was a member of Zonta, Mohawk Valley Institute for Learning in Retirement and the Fort Schuyler Club. She also enjoyed her time making and presenting flags to new US citizens in Utica.
Carol was an effervescent social butterfly who loved new people, places and things. Her passion for adventure brought her all around the globe, from Germany to Ireland to Australia. When you met Carol, you met a friend for life.

Although she wore many hats, her favorite role was just being ‘Ma’ to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When she was with them, all one had to do was follow the laughter and giggles to find her. Her good nature and humor will forever be cherished by all those who knew and loved her, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son Michael and his wife Cyndi of Rhode Island, her son-in-law Steve Warzala, sister Margaret “Sis” Gantner of Utica and sister-in-law Carol Fox of Lake Placid. She was truly loved by her grandchildren, Jennifer Graham and her husband Tim, Steve Warzala, Morgan Fuchs-O’Connell and her husband Dan, Lindsey Machado and her husband Kenny, and Hanna Fuchs and her fiancé Christian Weinrick. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Calvin and Alice Graham, Sheamus, Katherine, Claire and Elizabeth Carol O’Connell, and Hayden Machado. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Jack, and her daughter Kathleen F. Warzala

The funeral will be at 10:00 on Tuesday, March 14, at Mary Mother of Our Saviour Parish (Church of Our Lady of Lourdes), where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The family will greet friends following the Mass. Interment will be in St Joseph Cemetery. Arrangements are with Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.

In lieu of flowers, friends may consider a donation to their favorite charity or a random act of kindness in her memory.
