Obituary

Bonnie L. Usmail, 80, of New Hartford, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at The Pines at Utica Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.

She was born on January 21, 1946, in Utica, a daughter of the late Harry and Doris Bailey, and attended UFA. May 25, 1963, she married Dennis Usmail at Holy Trinity Church. He passed away on June 20, 2024.

Bonnie loved spending time with her family and especially looked forward to summers at the St. Lawrence River and time spent in Naples, Florida. She enjoyed watching hockey games, particularly when her children and grandchildren were playing.

She is survived by her children, Todd (Noreen) Usmail of New Hartford, Tamara Usmail and her spouse, Steve Paul, of New Hartford, Scott (Ashley) Usmail of Westmoreland, and Kelly Esche and Jon Bryant of Frankfort; her grandchildren, Cory (Rachel) Usmail, Courtney (Paul) Raymond, Brittany (Dustin) Walsh, Ashlynn and Waylon Esche, and Maxen and Hudson Usmail; and her great-grandchildren, Elaina and Paul, Cora, Wacey, and Beckett. She was predeceased by her sister, Nancy Wilson.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 5, at 1:00 p.m. at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Road, New Hartford. Calling hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Special thanks to Emily Riesel and Aubrey Garcia for their loving care for both Bonnie and Dennis in their time of need.  The family would also like to thank Ed Barry for his kindness in bringing Friday night dinners over the years. Additionally, the family would like to acknowledge Marilyn Barry who died in 1990 for her wonderful friendship with Bonnie.
