Obituary

Aulda Maldonado Echevarria, 79, of Utica, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Wynn Hospital.

She was born on March 16, 1947, in Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Nemesio and Ramona Echevarria. Aulda married Elman Maldonado on September 25, 2007, in Binghamton, NY.

Aulda had a deep love for her family and took great pride in being a homemaker, dedicating her life to caring for those she loved. She was a member of the Assembly of Christian Churches, Inc., where she was very active.

She is survived by her husband, Elman Maldonado; her children, Franklin (Susan Wallace) Vargas, Luis (Nancy Gotay) Vargas, Ramon (Herly) Cardona, and Carlos (Kali Jenks) Cardona; her grandchildren, Zachary and Joshua Wallace, Natasha, Luis, Mena Vargas, Stephanie Izaguirre, Marcc Gomez, Emily Mercardo, Jesus Carrasquillo, Efrain and Javier Rodriguez, Kelly Cardona, Joshua Ocasio, Emily, Hailey, Carlos Jr. Carly and Olivia Cardona, and David Jones; as well as numerous great-grandchildren and siblings. She was predeceased by her daughter, Griselle Cruz.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of the ICU at Wynn Hospital, especially Josh and Paula, for the compassionate care given to Aulda.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 1123 Court Street at York Street, Utica. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
