Loving, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Air Force wife.

Annabel Olson, 99, lived in New Hartford, NY, for 63 years, since 1962, died July 9, 2025.

She was born on October 21, 1925, in Hamilton, OH, a daughter of the late Marcus and Rebecca Dick Beard. Annabel was raised on the family farm in Scipio, OH, on the Indiana border. She graduated from Morgan Township High School in 1943 in Okeana, OH. That Summer she worked as a Rosie the Riveter in a converted Ford Factory countersinking rivet holes for B-24 bomb bay doors. She continued her education and graduated from Capital University Bexley (Columbus), OH in 1946, where she met her future husband Arthur in the Fall of 1943. Annabel married Arthur, a US Air Force Cadet, on the family farm on May 24, 1947. She lived the life of an Air Force wife and Mom, during Arthur’s Air Force career in which he served in WWII, including Pearl Harbor, the Battle of Midway & Guadalcanal. Then, the Berlin Airlift and the Korean War, from 1947-1951, moving to six different locations, including St. John’s, Newfoundland, while raising five children. They moved the family to New Hartford, in 1962. They transitioned to civilian life when Arthur took a position with Mohawk Airlines. After Arthur’s passing in January of 1975, Annabel started work with Bonide Products, where she worked for 18 years. In 2008 she sold her home and moved to Preswick Glen.

Annabel was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford, where she volunteered.

She is survived by her five children, Mark (Joanne Dartt) Olson of Mattapoisett, MA, Philip (Carol Freeman) Olson, of Littleton, CO, Karen (Dale) Karwowski of Loxley, AL, Robert (dear girlfriend Debbie Bruno) Olson of Port Jefferson Station, NY and Jane (Martin) Sheppard of Vernon, NY; four grandchildren Matthew (and his wife Madeline), Molly (and her husband John), Michael and Joseph (and his wife Sarah); three great-grandchildren Annabel and twin boys Charlie and Jacob. Her sister Jane Myers predeceased her. Niece Judy Myers predeceased her, and her niece Jackie Hardy survives.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the outstanding care provided by the staff at Wynn Hospital ICU before her passing.

The family is so grateful for the support provided by Mom’s Preswick Glen family.

The funeral mass will be on Saturday July 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford. Calling hours will be Friday July 25, from 4-6 PM at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford, Interment will be Arlington National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
