Obituary

Akwen Ajang, 19, of Utica, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021.

He was born on November 6, 2001, in Cairo, Egypt, a son of Asonta Ajang. Akwen graduated from Proctor High School, where he excelled on the basketball court. He was attending MVCC majoring in Business Administration. He was also worked at the Presbyterian Home in dietary, the Hermann Farm and watched after his younger siblings.

Akwen always had the goal of playing in the NBA and to be a successful businessman. He was known for having a great sense of humor and was always happy. He was a big man in statue, but never looked down on anyone.

He is survived by his mother, Asonta Ajang; siblings, Achol, Laila and Ajout Ajang all of Utica; uncle Chol Chan and his wife, Mareadi Aguan and close family members. He was predeceased by his stepfather, Akol Akol.

The funeral will be private at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 1123 Court St., Utica.
