William John Powers, III

We were extremely sorry to learn of Bill's passing - our condolences go out to the entire family. I knew Bill for as long as I can remember - his family lived next to ours growing up. We learned how to skate together, played on the same youth hockey teams, and we were on the same high school hockey team at RFA. We went our separate ways for a while after college, but when we moved back to the area from Texas in 1985, Bill was one of the first to welcome us, and we again became neighbors. One of the first things he did was recruit me and others to start a new senior hockey team in New Hartford. With "Coach" Powers leading the way, we won 4 league championships in 7 years. More importantly, he was always front and center at the post-game "recap" sessions at Cavallos, our team sponsor, telling stories and keeping us (mostly) in line. Bill was also great with kids, and was instrumental in getting me to coach youth hockey, for which I will always be grateful. Rest in peace my friend - you will be missed.

Bill was my CBI rep but whenever I called to make an order we exchanged pleasant conversation and grew to have a great relationship over the 13 years that I consider to be friendship. He knew about my cancer problems and always checked on my personal well being as a true friend would. I was shocked to hear of his passing having just talked to him less than a week before. I will miss his positive attitude that he shared with me every time I talked him. My prayers and condolences to his family and friends who I am sure miss him even more.

Deepest condolences to the Powers family. Bill was a neighbor growing up and a lifelong friend. We played a lot of street hockey in the alley behind our houses back in the day. He will be missed.

Bill was known to us on the Cavallo's Hockey Team as "Coach Powers."
He was a great leader and led us to our first MVOHL Championship.
Always enjoyed the camaraderie afterwards at Cavallo's.
We will miss his wisdom, spirit and humor.

Rest in Peace Bill
