Obituary

Ruth G. (Twietmeyer) Guthman, 89, of New Hartford, died May 25, 2022, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare.

She was born August 7, 1932, in Rochester, NY and received her education at the School of Nursing of the Rochester General Hospital to become a Registered Nurse. She married James A. Guthman November 24, 1955, in Rochester. He died December 21, 1991.

Although she was a Registered Nurse, her primary role in life was a mother raising her 4 children.

Ruth was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Utica, where she taught Sunday School, played the organ, sang in the choir and worked in the office. She was also a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and volunteered at the Rescue Mission of Utica.

She is survived by three children and their spouses, Charlene and Mark Young of New Hartford, Arthur and Janice Guthman of Greenville, VA, and Linda and Paul Zutter of Madison, AL. She was predeceased by her daughter Julianne Seiz. Also surviving her son-in-law Bruce Seiz of Reading, PA, grandchildren Allison Young, Susan and Taylor Mills, Jim and Katie Guthman, Trisha Guthman, Jordan and Julia Seiz and special childhood friend Joanne Rohring.

The family wishes to extend the sincere thanks to the staff at the Presbyterian Residential Community and the staff of St. Luke’s Hospital for all their care.

Calling hours are on Tuesday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2620 Genesee Street, Utica, NY 13502. The funeral will follow at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
