Ronald Mineo, 75, of New Hartford, died on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

He was born on August 23, 1942, in New Hartford, a son of the late Michael and Angelina (DiNigro) Mineo. Ron graduated from New Hartford High School in 1960. He also served in the United States Army Reserves. Ron married the love of his life, Gayl (Thomas) Mineo on May 29, 1965, in St. Thomas Church in New Hartford. She died on June 10, 2016. He worked for Sears Automotive and spent most of his career at Special Metals Corporation as a foreman, retiring in 2003. Ron couldn't sit still in his retirement, and took a job at Advance Auto as a delivery person.

Ron was a member of St. Thomas Church in New Hartford and their Men’s Club. He was a member of the New Hartford American Legion Post 1376. Over the years, he played in many bowling and golf leagues. Before his beloved wife passed away, he and Gayl spent many nights on the town seeing live music and dancing. He was a Nascar fan and spent much of his free time in his garage working on his own and others' vehicles. He was extremely handy and built multiple additions on his family's home. He relished his role of Papa to his dear grandson Chayce, and loved sharing all his vast knowledge with him.

He is survived by his children, Deborah Fournier of Whitesboro, William Mineo and his wife Laurie, of Cassville, and Tina Barnhill and her husband Brett, of Norcross, GA; his mother-in-law Ione Thomas; grandchildren, Chayce, Dylan, and Logan Fournier; his brothers, Anthony Mineo and his wife Antonia, Patrick Mineo and his wife Linda, and Richard Mineo and his wife Cindy; along with many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special friends, George and Ann Snyder, Sal SanFilippo, Chuck Demma, Dick and Shirley Bloomer, Dick Sacco, and Dick and Marty Romeo. He was predeceased by his son-in-law David Fournier, his brother Michael Mineo, and his father-in-law William Thomas.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff in the ICU and Special Care Unit at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center for all the care given to Ron.

The funeral will be on Monday at 10:00 at St. Thomas Church, Clinton Rd., New Hartford, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 at the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
