On Saturday, November 20, 2021, Ronald L. MacMaster, loving husband, father & grandfather, passed away at the age of 71.

Ron was born April 11, 1950 in Utica to Lester E. and Marie (Moore) MacMaster. He graduated from New Hartford High School in 1968 and then Utica College of Syracuse University in 1972 with a B.S. degree in Accounting. Most recently, he retired from the City of Utica where he was the Principal Accountant and Tax Collection Supervisor in the Comptroller’s Office. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in New Hartford and was a long-time member of the Optimist Club.

Ron met his sweetheart, Joy Peach, in 2005 and they were married November 4, 2006. With a newfound “Joy” for life, they adventured through life together. In addition to spending quality time with his family he enjoyed traveling, cruising & fishing. His personality & sense of humor could light up the room and his smile was always contagious. He was quite the character - anyone who knew Ron would know he was one-of-a-kind with his tall tales, goofy personality, and handlebar mustache. He will be dearly missed.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Lester, and his mother, Marie. He is survived by his wife, Joy; his children Megan Berger, Theresa Pierson, Kelly Isbell, Jennifer Carhart & Joey David; his 12 grandchildren – Brandon, Owen, Kellen, William, Mark, John, Anna, Adrienne, Josh, Juliana, Conner & Tyler; his brother David (Ellen) MacMaster; his brothers-in-law Bernie (Irene) Peach, Bruce Peach & Norm (Patricia) Peach and several extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his previous wife, Joanne MacMaster.

Calling hours will be on Monday, November 29, 2021 from 4 – 7pm at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services in New Hartford. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 10:30am at St. John the Evangelist Church in New Hartford where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
