Richard C. Peters, (Dick), 88, of Utica and Hilton Head Island, SC, passed away on April 2, 2018, in the comfort of his home, with his son by his side.

He was born on December 30, 1929, in Utica, a son of the late Bradley and Gertrude Chester Peters. Dick graduated from UFA and Rochester Institute of Technology. After graduation, he enlisted as an Officer with the United States Army and was stationed in Germany, post WW II. While in Germany, Dick met the love of his life, his future wife, Sigrid Krause. After emigrating to the U.S., Sigrid and Dick united in marriage in 1954 in Utica and spent the next 62 years together. Sigrid died on April 29, 2016. They raised their two sons in North Utica and in 1983 relocated to New Hartford.

Dick was the owner of TC Peters Printing Co., a family business (3rd generation). He managed the business for over 40 years before retiring on his 65th birthday. They built their dream home on a golf course on Hilton Head Island and lived there for 21 years before moving back to Utica, because of health concerns for both he and Sigrid.

Dick was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Utica, where he was very active and served on many boards. He was also a member the Utica Rotary Club, Mohawk Valley Advertising Club and the Utica Craftsman Club.

He is survived by his two sons, Mark (Linda) of Manlius, and Douglas of New Hartford; three granddaughters, Katharine Neuman (Michael), Jennifer McNichols (Kendell) and Haley; four great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Madelyn, Daniel and Carter; and nieces, Sharon, Pamela, Robin, and Deborah. He was predeceased by his sister, Betty Kniffin and her husband, Robert.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the care given to Dick by his blessed and loving caregivers Kathy Felski and daughter, Courtney. Also, special thanks to Sue, Sara and Colleen at St. Luke’s Day Care, and Dr. Fred Talarico & Patricia Rosati for their care and compassion.

The funeral will be on Saturday, April 28, 11:00 a.m. at Westminster Moriah Olivet Presbyterian Church, 714 Washington Street, Utica. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Friday, April 27 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
