Raymond Crowther, 93, of Utica died December 27, 2018 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare.

He was born December 23, 1925, in Yorkville son of the late James and Rose Williams Crowther. He graduated from Utica Free Academy and the entered the US Navy where he served from 1943-46. Raymond married Marilyn Foster December 23 1948 in St. George’s Church on State Street in Utica. He was employed with Chicago-Pneumatic for over 30 years. He was a member of the Whitestown American Legion Post # 1113.

His greatest love was his daughter, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, all of whom he enjoyed spending time with. They affectionately referred to him as “The Old Bear”.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his daughter Sandra Van Pelt of Norwich; grandchildren, Tammy (Mark) Cappadonia of Hamilton, Renee (Mike) Love of Valrico, FL and David (Maria) Van Pelt of LaFargeville, NY; his great-grandchildren, Ashley Perry (Jason Smart) of Yarmouth, ME, Allison Geiser, Riverview, FL, Braden Love, Valrico, FL, Nikki Cappadonia of New Hartford, Natalie (Cody) Santiago, N. Norwich, Oliver and Matilda Van Pelt of La Fargevillle, NY; his great-great grandchildren Reece Geiser, Riverview, FL, Avery Smart of Yarmouth, ME, and Joslyn Santiago of N. Norwich, NY. He also leaves a sister-in-law, Joan Crowther and four nephews James, Raymond, Jason and Paul Crowther.

The family wishes to thank the Nurse’s at Faxton-St. Luke’s for all of their care of Raymond and for the family.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.  Arrangements are with Friedel, Williams & Edmund Funeral and Cremation Services, New Hartford.
