Petro Donets, 76, of Utica went to be with the Lord on April 14, 2019 at Sitrin Healthcare surrounded by his loving family members.

He was born on February 27, 1943 in the village of Rulikov, Ukraine, a youngest of three children of Nikita and Olga (Korol) Donets.

He married Olga Semenets on February 8, 1965. The couple enjoyed 39 years of marriage when Olga passed away on January 19, 2004.

In January of 2006, Petro immigrated to the United States to be reunited with his children and their families. On February 27,2008 he married Anna Shostak.

He is survived by his wife, Anna, a blessed union that lasted for 11 years. He was a wonderful, caring father to his three surviving children: daughter Yelena Ogievich and her husband Petr; daughter Valentina Perva and her husband Vasyl; and son Mykola and his wife Liliya. Petro will also be remembered by his twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, whom he adored and enjoyed spending time with. He left us a wonderful legacy and will be missed greatly.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. William Ryan and staff of the Whitesboro Medical Office, Dr. Chase and Dr. Pylman and the staff of Sitrin Healthcare who provided care and support. A heartfelt thanks is offered to friends and families for their prayers, love and support. The family is also grateful for the prayers, support and friendship of the Pastors and congregation of the Slavic Pentecostal Church of Schuyler, where Petro was a diligent member.

Calling hours are Tuesday (today) from 5:30 to 7 PM at the Slavic Pentecostal Church, 2191 State Route 5, Utica. A funeral service will follow at 7 PM. A Christian burial will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Forest Hill Cemetery, Oneida Street, Utica.
