Patricia L. Ballman, 85, of Utica, died on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the Abraham House.

She was born on July 31, 1934, in Worthington, MN, a daughter of the late Carl and Clela Brors.

Upon graduation from Albert Lea High School in Albert Lea, MN, she attended Grinnell College in Iowa where she met the love of her life, Lt. G. Robert Ballman USAF and they married on September 3, 1955 in Albert Lea, MN. Patricia and Robert enjoyed fifty-three years of marriage together. Patricia found great satisfaction in making a home for her family while her children were school-aged. From 1982 to 2001 she enjoyed a long career of pursuing her passion for books and reading; first working as a librarian at Gorham McBane Public Library in Springfield, TN and then as the manager of the bookstore at Camp-of-the-Woods in Speculator, NY. Mrs. Ballman was a member of Cornerstone Community Church. She loved spending time with her family, reading, camping, playing piano, writing and talking for hours on the phone with friends.

She is survived by her children, David Ballman and his wife, Sylvia of Emmetsburg, Iowa; Mary Lea Russ and her husband Johnny of Rome and Rev. Michael Ballman and his wife, Pam of Utica; grandchildren, Brett Ballman, Kristine Fradenburg, Ryan Ballman, Lance Russ, Matthew Ballman, and Noah Ballman; great grandchildren, Lorna Fradenburg, Gweneth Fradenburg, and Isaac Ballman. She was predeceased by her husband Robert in 2008 and her grandson, Michael Seth Ballman in 1998.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice and Palliative Care and Abraham House for all the care and comfort that was given to Mrs. Ballman.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 13th at 12:00 noon at Cornerstone Community/Plymouth Bethesda Church, 500 Plant St. Utica. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Michael Ballman. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea, MN at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
