Omelan Kowalchuk, affectionately known as Uncle Emol, lived a life of special mightiness till the age of 91, he passed away peacefully at his home Friday morning, August 16, 2019.

He was born on May 20, 1928 in Zitomer, Ukraine and came to U.S. in 1949, and resided in West Utica, NY.

He was predeceased by his parents Panas and Alexandra Kowalchuk, sister Cynthia Kowalchuk, sister Julia and her husband Mike Smedovich, sister Eva and her husband Walter Baransky as well as brother in laws Alfred Denda and George Gribanoff.

He will be greatly missed by his sisters Mary Gribanoff, Anna Denda, Olga and her husband Jack Boshart, he had a special bond with his niece Anna and her husband Luther Murray as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Uncle Emol had a deep love for Bible truth, he dedicated his life to serving Jehovah God, and became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses at his baptism in 1953. He cherished the privilege of sharing the “good news of God’s Kingdom” as Matthew 6:9; 24:14 states.

Emol’s strong faith in the Bible’s promise of a future, soon to be earthly paradise when all sickness, pain, suffering and death will be no more, which motivated him to share this hope with all those he came in contact with as described in Isaiah 33:24; Revelation 21:4. He loved working side by side with his brothers and sisters in the congregation as an elder and was diligent in fulfilling his assignments when caring for the spiritual needs of others.

For decades Emol was a residential painter by trade and was known for his precision work and industriousness. He was a model neighbor in the community and dearly loved his family and numerous friends he knew thru out his life time. We fondly remember his special humor and enthusiastic, positive attitude despite dealing with his disabilities and chronic pain for many years.

All are warmly welcome to his memorial service at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at the Riverside Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 585 Trenton Rd., Utica, NY. Arrangements are with the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
