We were so saddened to hear of Nick's passing and offer our heartfelt condolences to all his family and friends. We have so many fond, fun, and happy memories with him at Niagara University. Nick was always ready to spend good times with his buddies and never hesitated to lend a helping hand when needed. His smile, sense of humor, and good nature were some of the qualities that made Nick so well-liked by everyone. We hope all those who were dear to him find peace and comfort during this difficult time, and keep Nick alive in their hearts and minds. May your dreams help you remember the special times you shared with him.

I'm so sorry to hear of the death of Nickie whom I remember singing happy with his older brothers from seeing Peter Rabbit as a little boy. They would read comic books in my parents' garage and set them back carefully when they were done.

Belated condolences to Felicity and the entire Bankert Clan. I just read the shocking news online from my home near Gettysburg, PA.
Nick was a welcome site every Winter at McCauley Mtn. where I was on the Ski Patrol for over 25 years and he ran the concession. He and Angus treated our Patrol with a BBQ every Columbus Day weekend while we re-certified and trained in preparation for the upcoming ski season.
(Nick's brother, Bobby and I were old friends from back in the K of C days. I was disappointed when he didn't attend Notre Dame with me. What an addition he would've made to our great Basketball program!) Our parents were old friends from St. Francis days and they actually attended Mom & Dad's 50th at Twin Pond's with Marguerite attending in her wheelchair!
Ironically, my last conversation with your parent's was sitting at the counter at the old Howard Johnson's in Old Forge, while they were leaf watching...long before Nick turned it into "Maloy's "in honor of your Mom.
RIP Nicky, Steve Graham

I will never forget this man! He was a sweetheart to be friends with and I wish I had made a bigger effort to stay in touch. I am sorry to hear of his passing and wish his family & close friends much love and support. I met Nick at Clinton Forks and had so much fun working with him and the crew there. I remember his children being little and coming in and running all around that big, beautiful building. My favorite memory is the Good Ole' Summertime fun, like the Bed Race and Waiter/Waitress races!! Also the way he held his beer, with a one finger tuck... LOL We had many October birthdays at Clinton Forks and he was awesome about it being a month long celebration!! I will miss running into you Nick! RIP.

The Bankert's and Droz's spent a good amount of time together growing up.
One of the few families in New Hartford that had more children than us, 10 vs 9. Whether it was attending St. John the Evangelist grammar school, Christian Family Movement, the Knights of Columbus or just going to Mass, our parents tried to instill a Spiritual Connection in their children's lives.

To Andy and all the Bankert's may that connection be strengthened through the passing of Nick.

Nick and I have been friends for almost 65 years now..And everytime we would run into each other, either at the boilermaker or one of his restaurants or at the mountain, we would laugh and discuss our kindergarten love affair. Thanks for making my heart smile Nick..See ya..

Nick and I were New Hartford Central classmates and friends in the late 60s. About a dozen years ago my family and I were vacationing in Old Forge. We drove over to Thendara to take the Adirondack Railroad ride. The man selling tickets and I made eye contact and right away we started laughing. It was Nick. In later years I'd discover that he was prominent in the Old Forge business and civic communities.
By the way, the tickets were on Nick.

We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to all of Nick’s family and friends. We did not have the honor of knowing Nick very well, having met only a handful of times but every encounter was truly delightful. A genuine soul, loved by many in my family. We know he will be greatly missed.
