Nancy Jo Devaney, 81, of New Hartford, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 26, 2018, at her home, with her devoted sister Dorothy by her side.

Nancy was born on February 3, 1937, in Hornell, NY the daughter of the late Joseph Peter and Hazel Mary Mitchell. Nancy graduated from St. Francis De Sales High School in Utica and continued her education at the St. Elizabeth Radiology Technician Program. She loved helping others and worked as an X-ray Technician at St. Elizabeth Medical Center for much of her career. Nancy was well respected and kind to all as she continued her career with compassion in Radiology/Oncology at Faxton Hospital. On May 28, 1983, Nancy married Patrick Joseph (Joe) Devaney in the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. Joe passed away on Dec 2, 2013.

Nancy was an avid crocheter and loved to adorn fancy hats. An adventurer at heart, she took flying lessons in her 20’s and enjoyed Irish music and learning to play the piano. The true love of her life was her dance partner and Husband “Joe”, whom she missed dearly. To know Nancy was to know love of family and friends. Nancy was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Christ Child, Legion of Mary and New Hartford Historical Society.

She is survived by her loving and devoted sister, Dorothy Mitchell of Utica; daughter, Janice Drasba and her husband, John of Lake Grove, NY; son, Patrick Devaney and his wife, Christine of East Aurora, NY; grandchildren, Christopher Devaney and his wife, Stephanie. Michael Drasba and his wife, Stephanie, Kerry O’Kelly and Christine Drasba; great grandchildren, Colin, Conor, Amelia, George and Andrew. She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick Joseph Devany and siblings, Robert, Helen, Mary and Margaret.

The funeral will be on Thursday at 12:00 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Burrstone Rd., New Hartford, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hour will be from 10:30 to 11:30 at the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
