Mary Pamela Scanlon 69, a resident of the Morris Road IRA died June 20, 2018 She passed in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the staff that cared for her over the years and loved her dearly.

She was born May 7, 1949 in Utica, the daughter of the late Steven V. and Pauline Pierce Scanlon.

Pam worked for 27 years at the ARC Oneida-Lewis Progressive Industries on Arnold Avenue in Utica, where she received a certificate of recognition for her longevity and quality of service. Upon Pam’s retirement, she attended the North Utica Senior Day Hab for a short time, and most recently attended the Arnold Ave, Day Hab. Pam enjoyed singing in the Senior Choir and was proud of her artwork

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford.

Pam loved the Golden Girls and Elvis. Pam loved country music, singing karaoke, and participating in Stage Works for many years. Prior to Pam’s illness, she loved to travel, taking trips to Memphis, Orlando, Boston, as well as Alaska where her brother resided. She loved to pamper herself and enjoyed spa getaways and getting her hair and makeup done…she always was wearing trendy accessories and donning a trendy hair style.

Pam will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially all her housemates, all her friends, as well as all the staff who worked with her every day and throughout the years.

Pam is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Todd and Ronna Scanlon of Fayetteville, NY and Kory and Kimberly Scanlon of Erie, PA; a nephew Stephen Scanlon, Erie, PA, and a niece Brittany Scanlon of Fayetteville, NY; a great niece Alice Butler; cousins Joan Richmond and Lynn Truax and several other cousins; her godmother Abbie Truax of Saverna Park, MD.

The family wishes to thank the ARC for their many years of loving care for Pam and to the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. for all of their care during her illness.

The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer. Calling hours are on Sunday from 2-5 at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd, New Hartford.
