Mary Louise (Colangelo Koperda Rumbutis) Rositano, age 94, passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospital July 8, 2022. Although her family is heartbroken by her passing, they are consoled by her legacy.

Faith and family were important to Mary. Raised in St. John’s Orphanage after the untimely death of her mother, she cherished her family, especially her children. She is survived by Karen (Robert) Cubino, Gail Dalbey, Frank (Tamara) Koperda and Michael Koperda (Donna Power). She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren that brought her great joy, her cousin, Marion Amico, that she regarded like a sister, and the Christie family in Albany, NY.

An Irish-Italian redhead, Mary was feisty and full of life. She loved meeting people, any gathering, and especially dancing. Her small stature was no indication of what she was willing to take on. To help support her family over the years she had careers as a hairdresser (first to get Cosmetology license in Oneida County history), waitress, General Electric wiring inspector and Licensed Practical Nurse. She graduated from nursing school as a widow at the age of 46. Mary enjoyed genealogy, had interest in astrology, and traveled the US in an RV during retirement. All who knew her knew she was happiest when surrounded by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Sarah Christie Colangelo, and husbands Frank Koperda, Frank Rumbutis, and Joseph Rositano.

Our family wishes to thank Mary’s aides and the entire staffs at Preswick Glen & Eastern Star Health and Rehabilitation for their kindness and support.

Her Celebration of Life will be held at noon, Wednesday, July 13 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 66 Oxford Rd, New Hartford NY. The burial will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Rome, NY at the convenience of her family. Arrangements are with the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the YMCA Mohawk Valley Crisis Services, 7 Rutger Park, Utica NY 13501.
