Madelin E. Ostrom, 93, formerly of New Hartford, died Tuesday, January 22, 2019, in Glenville, New York where she has resided for the last four years.

She was born on March 3, 1925, in Johnson City, NY, a daughter of the late George and Madelin Sendt Devlin. On June 29, 1943, she married Howard W. Ostrom, Sr. in Arkansas and he predeceased her on February 15, 2003. Madelin worked for 30 years in Customer Service at Sears Roebuck and Co. where she loved interacting with customers and made them smile.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in New Hartford. She loved her family dearly and always looked forward to having them all together. She was kind, generous, fun , loving, courageous and supportive and lived life to the fullest. Her smile was contagious and those who were fortunate enough to know her and spend time with her could not help but learn and grow from her positivity and lively spirit. In her spare time she enjoyed playing cards, spending time outside, tending to her flower and vegetable garden.

She is survived by her children, Candy Paolozzi of Rexford, NY, Niki Bischoff of New Hartford, Howard W. Ostrom, Jr. and his wife, Lowere of Gloversville, Keith Ostrom and his wife Patricia of Pittsburgh. Nine cherished and beloved grandchildren, Tammy Paolozzi; Vinnie Paolozzi (Haley), Jeffrey Paolozzi (Erin); Robert Bischoff (Janet); Heather Thomas (Mark); Michael Ostrom, Kelly Dutcher (Joe), Sarah Plakas (Peter) and Maddy Ostrom; eleven cherished great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Jane Woods.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at the Schenectady Glendale Home for all the care and comfort given to Madelin.

The funeral will be on Saturday at 9:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The family will greet everyone following Mass. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
