I lived across the street from Leo in our high school years. Although Iwas a year older we were good friends. I haven't seen him in years but we still talked by phone. He talked so much about all his children. My deepest sympathy goes out to all of you.

Lee was an extraordinary gentleman, full of energy and initiative, as well as tender sensitivity. We were astounded by his resourcefulness in so many home projects, as well as the enthusiasm he brought to antiquing. Ever one to engage in lively conversation, especially political, he provided the very best challenges to one's own thinking and opinions. He loved sharing stories of his early boyhood, military service in England, and years with Niagara Mohawk. Lee certainly loved traveling his 'territory,' ever with an anecdote about who lived in a particular house or what had happened at a certain location.

We will especially remember his loving attention toward our late mother, Ann, whom he treated like a queen. His care never faltered, even as her condition did. To the contrary, it became more magnified. He felt deeply and freely shared his tender emotions, a sign of real manly strength. We can only imagine what a wonderful reunion must be occurring now among these dear, dear friends!

We are confident that Lee departed us peacefully, doing what he loved, after visiting his beloved cabin only days before. He was able to reside independently with dignity at home until the end, thanks to his doting daughters and their families, to whom we send our profound condolences. You will be dearly missed, Lee.
