Kathleen (Kay) Palmer Beyea Perreault, 105, of New Hartford, died May 14, 2018 at the Masonic Care Community.

She was born December 1, 1912 in Watertown daughter of Herbert and Mary Palmer. She grew up in Watertown and graduated from Cortland Normal School. After graduation, Kay taught two years in a country, one room schoolhouse south east of Ithaca. She taught all children together from grade 1 through grade 8. The school had no water or electricity. She then taught 5th grade in Monticello, where she met her first husband, Lewis Beyea who was a math teacher. They were married in 1938.

The eventually relocated to New Hartford where he taught Math. They were half way through building a new house on Overbrook Circle when Lewis suddenly passed away in 1956. Kay supported herself after that, by substitute teaching in the New Hartford schools and boarding young teachers. Eventually she took a permanent teaching position in Whitesboro where she taught 6th grade for 16 years. In 1971, she married George Perreault in New Hartford. He died 4 ½ years later.

Besides her two husbands, Kay was predeceased by her parents and a brother Herbert Palmer and wife Ida, nephew John Palmer.  She leaves a nephew Robert Palmer of Nashua, NH, one step-daughter Jean Brady, and a host of great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Jessica Almond for all of her attentive personal care for Kathleen. Also to the staff of the Masonic Care Community who care for Kathleen.

Calling hours are Friday from 11:30 to 12:30 at the New Hartford Presbyterian Church, 45 Genesee St., New Hartford. A funeral service will follow at 12:30. There will be a reception following the service at the church. Interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park
