Kathleen A. Zebda, 67, of New Hartford, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at home with her loving husband by her side.

She was born on July 14, 1955, Union, NY, a daughter of the late Arthur F. Slattery and Helen P. (Barry) Slattery. Kathy graduated from New Hartford High School and attended the Utica School of Commerce later in life. On September 1, 1979, Kathy married Gary Zebda in St. John the Evangelist Church in New Hartford. They were able to share 43 beautiful years together and raise their twin girls in a loving home. Kathy worked in the radio industry for many years which included Big Frog 104, WIBX, Lite 98.7 and K Rock. She developed many friendships in her time working that have lasted throughout the years. She was also able to provide her family with amazing opportunities and memories as a result of her employment which was one of her only goals in life.

Kathy was a member at one time of St. John the Evangelist Church in New Hartford but more recently had a stronger affiliation with St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Whitesboro. She enjoyed crafting and when she was in better health you would often find her sewing and crocheting. The projects she was most proud of were always for her family including her children’s Halloween costumes, curtains for her daughter’s new apartments and blankets for the family. She was also an avid bingo player and met many people at the Turning Stone Casino who she developed lifelong friendships with. She was predeceased by two very close friends she met at bingo Brian Sgroi and Duke Plantz. When you didn’t find her at bingo or participating in her crafting she was reading. She shared her love of reading with her two grandsons and daughter in law. She spent every moment she could with her grandsons in her lap reading to them and making special trips to Barnes and Noble.

She is survived by her loving husband, Gary; daughters, Michele and Melissa and her wife, Payton; grandsons, Nathan and Brayson; brother, James Slattery and his wife, Alison; nephews, Stephen Slattery and wife, Gillian and Scott Slattery and wife; Shauna; great nephew and 3 great nieces and Godmother, Lynne Jones-Osborn.

Kathleen’s family would like to thank all of her medical professionals that helped her along her complicated medical journey since her heart attack and subsequent disability at age 48. Without all of you we would not have had our wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother in our lives for another 19 beautiful years. We would also like to give a special thank you to the EMTs and hospital personnel who responded to her last call and did all they could for her and her family.

The funeral will be on Thursday at 6:00 at the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford. Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 6:00 prior to the service.
