Condolences

I am very saddened to learn of the passing of Katherine Chester. I was her student, so she will always be Mrs. Chester to me. She was the most memorable and influential teacher I had in high school.

In 1973 I was a senior at Whitesboro High School and took Mrs. Chester's science fiction class. She was only 27 and just starting out on her career. I was delighted to see her again 14 years later when I was substitute teaching at Whitesboro. She was still the same warm, friendly, cheerful teacher I remembered from high school. Alas, that's the last time I saw her.

Mrs. Chester was one of those memorable people in our lives who really made a significant, positive difference. My deepest condolences to her family and friends.

Kay was a lovely person and dear friend. She shared her knowledge and love of language and stories with her students and friends. Kay was a treasured member of our book club. We miss her.
