Judy A. Scheri, 70, of N. Utica, died on Tuesday, June 5, 2018.

She was born on April 2, 1948, in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of the late Thomas and Agnes Manning and raised in Hicksville, Long Island. Judy graduated from Our Lady of Mercy Academy in 1965, SUNY Oneonta in 1969 with a Bachelors Degree and SUNY Upper Division where she received a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. On August 14, 1971, she married Ralph (Ruffy) Scheri in Utica and he died on May 15, 1988. Judy was a well respected teacher with the Whitesboro School district for 42 years, mainly teaching kindergarten at Harts Hill School.

Judy was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in N. Utica. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, willing to help her family in any way and always put them first above else.

She is survived by her children, Kimberly Scheri of Sauquoit and Brian Scheri of Florence, AL; grandchildren, Ryan Sewall, Charlie Tibbitts, Rachel Massey, Neely, Anna and Thomas Scheri; siblings, Patricia and James VonEschen, Maryjane Schmitt, Thomas and Debra Manning and Richard and Kim Manning; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her special friends, Patty Haggs, Amanda Warchal, Kim Jones and Antoinette Talarico.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ruffy, parents and special sister in law, Yolanda Dowe

The family would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Desai and Windy Mitchell PA, the nurses at the Outpatient Infusion Unit at Faxton St. Luke’s Health Care especially Lynn Entiwistle RN, and Hospice and Palliative Care, especially Irene and Krystal for all the special care and comfort they gave to Judy.

The funeral will be on Friday at 9:00 am at St. Mark’s Church, N. Utica, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
