John J. Hilton, 70, of Lake Pleasant, NY and formerly of New Hartford died May 3, 2021 in Albany Medical Center.

He was born August 27, 1950 in Utica, son of the late Robert K. and Elaine Harvey Hilton. He graduated from LeMoyne College and then passed his CPA exam in 1982.

John married Diane Sexton June 4, 1973 at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, Utica.

John was a CPA in Utica for nearly 40 years retiring from Hilton and Powers, PC.

He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford, The Yahnundasis Golf Club, The Rotary Club of Utica where he was the recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship. He served on the Board of Directors of Blue-
Cross – Blue Shield, The Utica Zoo, and the New York State Society of CPA’s.

John enjoyed golfing and boating. His greatest joy was the time spent with family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Diane; his children Christopher and his wife Kristina of Farmingdale, NY, Kimberly and husband Chris Mahaney of Lake Placid, NY and J.P. Hilton and his wife Julia Neslin of Weehauken, NJ. He also leaves Greg Bonner and Elzabeth Helms. John is also survived by his grandchildren Andrew, Charlie, Daniel and Ellie Hilton and Ruth and Elaine Mahaney; his brother and sister-in-law Richard and Judy Hilton of New Hartford as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by two brothers R. Kenneth and Timothy J. Hilton.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the Speculator Volunteer Ambulance Corps and to the staff of the Albany Medical Center, Surgical ICU for the excellent care shown to John.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 12:00 Noon at St. John the Evangelist Church, 66 Oxford Road, New Hartford. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be on Friday from 4-7 at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd. New Hartford. Face masks, social distancing and contact tracing will be required at the funeral home and church.
