Whitesboro – John F. Falk, 93, of Whitesboro, passed into the arms of the Lord and his beloved wife on December 3, 2018, while surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 15, 1925, in Utica, a son of Norbert M. and Margaret (Rohm) Falk.  John attended Utica schools, and proudly served his country as a US Army combat veteran, serving from 1943-46 in the European Theatre. He married Mary D. Rittenhouse on March 19, 1949 in Blessed Sacrament Church. The couple had enjoyed nearly 68 years of marriage at the time of Mrs. Falk’s passing in 2017.

John retired from General Electric Radio Receiver in 1985, where he had been employed for over 38 years.

A long time communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, John devoted his adult life to loving and caring for his family. He will be remembered as an adoring husband, father, and grandfather.

John will always be remembered as a humble, compassionate, and thoughtful man who shared many traditions and loving memories with his family. John enjoyed gardening, admired cars, and he was passionate about cooking. John especially enjoyed preparing his favorite dish, which was spaghetti, meatballs, and antipasto since this provided an opportunity for quality family time. Most importantly, John provided a lasting imprint of love, compassion, and devotion within his family, which will never be forgotten.

John is survived by twin sons John M. and Bernard R. Falk, both of Utica, and a daughter, Debra E. Wormuth and her husband, Arthur J., of Whitesboro; two cherished grandchildren, Bernadette M. Wormuth and Kara J. Plato; a brother, William Falk, a sister, Elizabeth Goldsmith, and a sister-in-law Joan Falk; special friends Barb Caraco and Casey Miner; a special niece, Mary Catherine Hosey and two feline companions, Hobie and Willie. In addition to his wife, John was predeceased by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Norbert and Peggy Falk, and Gerald Falk; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary and Anthony DeNigro, and Jane Falk; three daughters-in-law, Cathy Falk, Tracy Plato, and Rosemarie Falk; a brother-in-law, Charles Goldsmith; a sister-in-law, Lucille Falk; and a brother- and sister-in-law, William and Lorraine Rittenhouse.

John’s family wishes to acknowledge the kind and compassionate attention that he received from the entire staff of Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., especially Crystal and Irene. “Your efforts will forever be remembered. Thank you.”

In accordance with John’s wishes, there are no calling hours, and his funeral and interment in Forest Hill Cemetery are private. Arrangements are under the direction of Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, New Hartford. Online messages of sympathy may be left at www.fwefh.com.
