Joanne Hall Barber, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022.

She was born on June 17, 1932, in Port Leyden, NY, a daughter of the late Salmon W. and Dorothy Hutchins Hall. On June 6, 1953, she married Edward I. Barber in Port Leyden and he died on January 29, 2017.

Joanne graduated from New York State Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences (MVCC) in June of 1952. In June of 1996, she retired from Bank of America after many years in banking, insurance, air lines and manufacturing. She was a long-time treasurer with the Faxton-St. Luke’s Volunteer Association and St. David’s Episcopal Church.

Joanne is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Paine and her husband, Roger; three grandchildren, Daniel Paine, Lauren Paine Carey (Brendon) and Melissa Paine; three great grandchildren, Brianna Carey, Edyn Clark and Brett Carey; sister, Colleen Hall Duffin; brother, James Hall (Marilyn) and sister, Suzanne Hall Connor; sister-in-law, Annette Barber and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother, John Hall and his wife Gloria and a brother-in-law, Dr Franklin Barber.

The family would like to thank two special nieces, Terrie Ripp and Tammie Manning for all the special care given to Joanne. The family would also like to offer heartfelt thank you for staff at the St. Luke’s Home especially Mary Brady, LPN for all her extra care given to Joanne.

Joanne loved dogs and she and Ted spent many years breeding, selling and showing their retrievers and Shetland sheepdogs at shows in the eastern states and Canada.

The funeral will be on Wednesday, June 29, at 11:00 am at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 6988 West Main St., Port Leyden, NY 13433. Interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park. Arrangements are with the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
