Jane F. Metzger

I was never more flabbergasted than when Jane showed up for my storytelling class in the Senior Learning program at SUNY-IT a few years ago. The whole time, it felt as if I were trying to teach the Pope how to say Mass. Jane Metzger combined intellect, accomplishments and humanity in one splendid woman, and I will miss her very much. With condolences and sorrow, but also pride in a life very well lived.

Leslie and Scott,

My deepest sympathy for your loss. Jane and Paul were dear friends from the time Jane played Mrs. Lovett and me Sweeney Todd at Players, I think in 1981. Esther and I had many great nights out with them, and after Paul's death, with Jane. The year before we left Utica for California, in 1991, Jane directed me in The Dining Room. We reconnected through email and a couple of years ago, I had dinner with her at Symeon's: my son Jeremy and his wife/partner Misty were there, also the Spears (Sadieann and Bob) and the Domenicos (Orin and Kim). When I took Jane home, I got to meet her cat (Henry?).

Jane had long, productive life. She was an inspiration to many and if you were in a production with her, a great partner. But most of all, to me, she was a great friend. I will miss her.

Leslie
My condolences to you and your family on the passing of your Mom. She was most likely the last of the old guard from Herkimer Road.
Sincerely

I was a student of Mrs. Metzger. Fond memories of her. She was always energetic and a very good teacher especially for public speaking. May she rest in peace. Prayers to her family.

I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Metzger’s passing. I remember her fondly. She was my speech teacher at Frankfort-Schuyler and one of my inspirations in becoming an English teacher. I have thought of her often, especially when teaching public speaking skills. I graduated in 1987 and am about to begin my 33rd year of teaching. I will forever be thankful for being one of Mrs. Metzger’s students.
With my deepest sympathies,
Lisa Aiello Morgan
