Obituary

Jane E. Nieman, 72, of Barneveld, died November 24, 2018 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare.

She was born November 13, 1946 in Cambridge, NY, daughter of the late Albert and Dorothy Briggs Slocum. She attended Nathan Littauer School of Nursing where she received her RN.

Jane married Donald F. Nieman June 10, 1972 in Greenwich, NY.

She worked at FAxton Hospital as an ICU nurse and later as a Nurse for Hospice.

Jane enjoyed knitting and sewing for others, especially her grandsons, she also enjoyed family vacations. First and foremost she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved her family.

She is survived by her husband, Donald of Barneveld, her two sons Jeff Nieman, and Ben Nieman and his wife Sarah; her grandsons Isaac and Jacob all of Barneveld; one brother Ed Slocum of Greenwich, NY, three sisters Elaine Simmons of FL, Anne Slocum-McIlhenny of Chateaguay, NY, and Martha Slocum of Buskirk, NY; here sisters-in-law, Marilyn Shadley of AL, Ellen parsons, of CA, and Claudia Collins of CA and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to than the staff of STaR Ambulance for their response and excellent care of Jane.

The funeral will be Thursday at 1:00 PM at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremations Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford. Calling hours are Thursday from 11:00 AM until 1:00pm prior to the services. Interment will be in South Trenton Cemetery.
