Hilda M. Hecox, 87, of New Hartford passed away on July 19, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

Hilda was born in Utica, N.Y. , the daughter of Lester P. and Kathleen N. Hecox. She was raised in New Hartford and graduated from New Hartford High School. Hilda continued her education at Manhattan State Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated with a degree in nursing. Her first job as a Registered Nurse was at Belleview Hospital in New York City where she specialized in Emergency Room care. After working in New York City for several years Hilda had a strong desire to return home where she was employed for many years as the Head Nurse of the Faxton Hospital Emergency Room.

Hilda was an active member of the New Hartford Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon. She especially enjoyed being surrounded by her family at numerous family events throughout the year.

Hilda is survived by her sister, Kathleen Philo of New Hartford, a niece Deborah Green (Bernard), two nephews, Robert Philo (Sue) and Raymond Philo. She also leaves two grandnieces, Kimberly and Allison Philo, and two grandnephews, Christopher and Patrick Green. Hilda was predeceased by her twin sister Muriel B. Hecox.

Hilda was blessed to have special special friends and neighbors who provided her support and many years of good times. They include Shirley Hunziker, Norma Hughes, Art and Marilyn Hughes, and the Douglas Smith family.

Hilda’s family would like to thank Dr. Naji El Khoury and the staff at the Presbyterian Home of Central New York, Maple Unit, for excellent and compassionate care.

At the request of Hilda there will be no calling hours. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at the Sauquoit Valley Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, New Hartford.
