I remember her well...she was so pretty and always looked well dressed and had beautiful skin and hair; I worked at Howlands as she did while I was in school. Howlands in New Hartford Shopping Center was a nice store, and she lived quite near it with her family.......
I still see her in my mind standing at her assigned counter as a beautiful woman; I knew then she had been WW II war bride from Morocco......and found her very interesting.
May she rest in Peace.

Greg & Family, I am sorry that your grandmother passed away and would like to express my sincere sympathy to you and your family. May she rest in peace and be reunited with your grandfather. She is your "angel!" When you see the "red cardinals" fly by for a visit your loved ones that you love & miss are letting you know they are watching over you! All your many memories you will share together will help at these difficult times. My thoughts & prayers are with you. God Bless. Deb Skinner

I considered Mrs. Cardinale as a second Mother because I spent as much time in the Cardinale household as I did mine.
Being a good friend of her son, Jerry, I would usually be at their house after school and continue there through dinner (Kay would always scold me saying, "don't you have a home" after her hard looks of displeasure she would put a plate in front of me and serve dinner). I would leave after Jerry and I finished watching the Johnny Carson show that night.
Kay worked at Howland's in the New Hartford Shopping Center and every time I would be in the area I would pass through her store and say Hi. Being that in my youth I had a propensity for being a bit of a troublemaker, as I approached her at her counter, she would give a look like, "Oh boy what is this all about"? I would say Hi and start talking and she would see there was nothing negative to my visit, and she would loosen up. I believe she always thought that when I was around there would be something unwanted coming.

I am so glad that I grew up surrounded by the families of the Greatest Generation.

My sympathies go out to the entire Cardinale Family.

With all of my Sincere Love and Respect,
William & Nadine Fitts and Family
