Obituary

Germaine A. Helmer, 82, of Clinton, died May 11, 2019 at her home.

She was born March 24, 1937, in Utica daughter of the late Anthony and Theresa Yacovella. She graduated from Proctor High School and the Utica School of Beauty Culture. She married Bernard L. Helmer February 6, 1982 in Utica. He died June 8, 2017.

She attended the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes.

Germaine owned and operated Carene’s Beauty Salon in Utica a job which she loved and was proud that she was able to help people look beautiful.

She will be remembered as being always, gracious, pleasant and kind.

She is survived by her two sons, Nick R. Perri of Schuyler and Mark A. Perri of Daytona Beach, FL; one sister and brother-in-law Joan and William Stuhlinger of New Hartford; one nephew and wife, William, III and Becky Stuhlinger; great nephew Bill Stuhlinger and wife Elissa and their children Minka and Taber and great nephew Jamie Stuhlinger and several cousins. Also surviving are several of her husband’s nieces and nephews including Roger Skinner and Art Helmer. She was pre-deceased by a niece Glory Ann Stuhlinger.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are in the care of Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, New Hartford.
