Frederick B. Munson, 73, of Utica, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.

He was born on February 12, 1949, in Utica, the son of the late Frederick and Margaret Munson. He graduated from Utica Free Academy and continued his education at Utica College.

Fred was a kind man, who always had time for a story or two. He had a love for local history and had the ability to recall past events with great detail.

Fred worked tirelessly as a tax preparer. He was very proud of the business that he built from the ground up and was always eager to help anyone with a tax question. He was passionate in sharing his knowledge of this field.

Fred was a devoted member of his community. He was an active Mason with the Oriental/Faxton Lodge. He was a founding member of the Ziyara Shriners’ Drum and Bugle Corps and performed faithfully in parades and at community events. His love of percussion started at a young age, inspiring a lifetime of performing with the Magnificent Yankees Drum Corps, the New Hartford Citizens Band, and LaBanda Rossa (The Red Band). He also enjoyed singing and playing handbells at the Westminster-Moriah Olivet Church.

Fred is survived by his cousins, James Turnbull IV, Mark Turnbull, Lynda Cioni, Johanna Armstong, Carla Fuess and Ruth Morris. He is also survived by special friends Mark Bowdish and George and Cindy Whitton.

The funeral will be on Thursday at 11:00 am at the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.  Interment will take place in Prospect Cemetery.  Calling hour will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the funeral.

Those who wish, may make contributions to the Westminster-Moriah Olivet Church, 714 Washington St, Utica, NY 13502 or the Ziyara Shriners, 8209 Halsey Rd, Whitesboro, NY 13492.
