Condolences

Nancy, Fran and Jackson -
I will remember that each time I talked to your mom and grandma even just a few years ago, she was sharp as a tack - warning us not to drive to Speculator at midnight. And even though I’d only met her 3 times in 40 years, she always knew my nane. Her great mind and fortitude amazed me.
When I read of your mom’s (and grandmothers) love of the outdoors and zest for life, and think also of your father’s (and grandfathers), it’s so easily seen that this is one of the loves they invested in each of you, too. Although I don’t know Fran or Jackson, my heart goes out to all of you in your loss today.
Nancy, I know all you did to make your mothers days comfortable and safe these last several years. You were a great blessing to her, Nancy. And, I know that no matter how prepared you may have been for this inevitable day, we never ever are completely. With the death of our parents, part of our histories go with them. I’m here for you as you come into this time when so much less will fill your life. I’m thinking of all of you and praying for you today.

Please accept my deepest condolence for your loss. Florence was a wonderful person. I so enjoyed talking with her while I took care of you Father/Grandfather.

They both with be greatly missed.

Nancy & Fran, I was so sorry to read this but such wonderful memories of your mother and father and their time in Speculator come rushing back. The room always brightened when your mother was there with her positive spirit, and energy, and drive to overcome whatever health issue was holding her back from enjoying life more fully. My mother was especially fond of Florence so I pray they also have reconnected. My thoughts and prayers for you and family. - Ginger

Fran and Nancy: Your mom will be greatly missed but she certainly had a wonderful life and brought happiness into the lives of so many others. I think almost everyone who went to Lakeview Chalet ended up with “Speculator” in their genes, as indicated by so many people who come back year after year to enjoy what Speculator has to offer. I well remember all of the fun and well-attended New Year’s Eve parties and happy hours that your parents so generously hosted. The slide shows of their travel adventures were always a highlight for me! I thank your parents for getting me interested in travel and outdoor activities. While this is a very sad occasion, I’m sure your mom is now resting in peace with her other half.

Fran and Nancy: I will always remember your mother's warm welcome whenever I visited Speculator. Her memory was impressive: she remembered me amongst the many, many acquaintances and friends who would visit the Lodge. I will certainly remember your mom for her zest and humour. God Bless.
