Obituary

Evelyn Hamacher, 87, of Phoenix, AR and formerly of Utica, died on Tuesday, June 21, 2022.

She was born on June 3, 1945, in Moria, NY, a daughter of the late Daniel and Clara Harps Greenwood. She married the love of her life, Harold G. Hamacher on May 13, 1977, in Utica. Evelyn worked in the grocery business for 40 years and started with Lodlaws in Syracuse ad moved to Utica and worked for Chicago Markets and retired from Great American in 1994.
Evelyn at one time was a member of Holy Trinity Church, the New Hartford American Legion 1376 and the Whitestown Vets Club. She enjoyed reading and her trips to Turning Stone Casino.

She is survived by her great niece, Kimberly Lynch Slonski and her husband, Scott; great, nephew, Joey Hamacher; great, great nieces and nephews, Scott, Krystal, Austin and DestinySlonski; great, great, great nephew, Dylan Slonski; brother, Warren Greenwood. She was predeceased by her siblings, Floyd, Frank and Donald Greenwood; niece, Doris Premeau and best friend, Loraine Greenwood.

The funeral will be on Thursday at 6:15 pm at the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 1123 Court at York Sts., Utica. Calling hour will be from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm prior to the funeral. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
