Evelyn Beatrice Bohling Tanner, 94, of Manlius, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2021.

Evelyn Beatrice Bohling was born in Utica on March 12, 1927, a daughter of Earl Lester Bohling and Mary Catherine Kirkwood Bohling. She attended schools in Sauquoit and Utica, graduating from Utica Free Academy in 1944. As a child, she and her brother, Earl, were a dance duo, performing at area churches and social functions. She worked at the Oneida County Rationing Board during World War II and then at the New York Telephone Company Business Office. On March 7, 1948, she married William Elbert Tanner at South Congregational Church, Utica, a loving union of 71 years. Evelyn & Bill moved to New Hartford in 1951 where they raised their family and remained until 2019 when they relocated to Manlius. Evelyn left work to raise her family in the early 1950's and then rejoined the workforce in 1972. She was employed by Harris Brothers Jewelers for a time, and the New Hartford Central School from 1972-1989, in the position of Switchboard Operator and Clerk Typist at the High School.

Evelyn enjoyed spending time with family, playing piano, Budgie Parakeets, baking, knitting, antiquing at Bouckville, mall-walking with her husband and friends, and gardening. Her spring and summer gardens were her pride and joy. She and her husband Bill enjoyed many trips and cruises together in their retirement.

Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Bill, in 2019; her parents, Earl and Mary Bohling, siblings, Loretta Marie, LeRoy, Earl F., and her first-born child, an infant son. She leaves to mourn her passing 3 children, Sandra (Ken) Walcyk, Manlius, Eric Tanner, Las Vegas, NV, Tamara (Larry) Krauss, Brookfield; 5 grandchildren, Sarah Walcyk, Manlius, Richelle Tanner, Manassas, VA, Katrina Tanner, Hudson, OH, Joel D'Agostino, Waterville, Kyle D'Agostino, Waterville; and 1 great grandchild, Ayla D'Agostino.

Her family would like to express their utmost appreciation to the entire staff of Brookdale Manlius for their kind, compassionate care of Evelyn, Dr. J. Christopher Stringer and his staff, Hospice of CNY, and Changing Seasons of Fayetteville.

There will be a brief service at the convenience of the family at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.  Interment will be at Crown Hill Memorial Park, State Rt. 12, Clinton.

Evelyn's favorite charities were Spring Farm CARES, 3364 State Rt. 12, Clinton, NY 13323 and the Stevens-Swan Humane Society.
