Ellen J. Keinz, 88, of Masonic Care Community passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018.

She was born Ellen Jean Glasgow on October 18, 1930 in Glen Cove, Long Island, NY. She was the loving daughter of Jean Tennant Glasgow and James Kirklittle Glasgow of Leadhills, Scotland.

Ellen was a vivacious, artistic young lass who had an affinity and connection with animals, especially dogs and horses. She spent most of her childhood in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY and her young adulthood in the Bronx, NYC, where she modeled for Barbizon.

She met Donald E. Keinz in NYC and the two were married on February 5, 1952. They shared 68 years of marriage, traveled the world together, and enjoyed their summers on the St. Lawrence River.

Ellen’s love for animals was expressed during her time as a volunteer and board member of Stevens-Swan Human Society. She brought joy to others with her creative balloon-a-gram business, Up Up and Away Singing Bouquet; and will be remembered for her classic style and beauty.

She is survived by her husband Donald of Utica; son Donald F. Keinz and wife Anne Keinz of Wrentham MA; daughter Kimberly Keinz of Old Saybrook, CT; grandchildren, Kari Reuben Procopio and husband Eric Procopio of New Hartford; Daniel E. Reuben and wife Elin Reuben of Boone, NC; Kristin Watchelhausen and husband Tyler Watchelhausen of Harvard, MA; and Savannah Virgili of Boston, MA; four great-grandchildren, Brin and Lily Procopio; Theodore Schmidt; and Maisey Watchelhausen.

She is predeceased by her parents and her eldest daughter, Debra Reuben Deronda.

Ellen was a beloved daughter, devoted wife, loving mother, and remarkable grandmother. Her memory will be forever cherished.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Masonic Care Community, expressly the nurses and attendants of Forestport wing, who showed Ellen compassion and kindness during her residence and especially during her last days.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Donations in Ellen’s memory can be made to Stevens-Swan Humane Society or the Masonic Care Community.

Arrangements are with Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, New Hartford.
