Off on vacation June 8-11, this is the first I heard of the memorial event, or...even of Betty's passing. I am at a loss for any expression other than I am and will be bereft of joy for a long time. We had been close. I visited her when I was in the MCC as a cardiac patient...and remembered our good times in school, and at the Fort Schuyler Club dance classes...and... Betty letting me give her a peck on the cheek after my papa gave us a ride home from the dinner dance , 20 years later a wonderful dinner date at Vernon Downs before I went on racing tour. A marvelous soul with an exemplary family whom, I am sure, Christ has welcomed with open arms..one an all.

I was fortunate to have known Elizabeth "Betty" Griffin during her teenage years when we were both students at Utica Free Academy (UFA) . Betty had a special vitality that words cannot do justice to. All of her female classmates wanted to be like Betty Griffin....attractive, vibrant and smart.
One time, she confided, that "everybody wants to be like Betty Griffin so much, that I want to be like Betty Griffin"
Sadly, it was not to be.
Those that knew her were touched by her sincerity....her vitality....her ability to find the best in people.
While she knew she was a special person, she did not take this ability lightly and was the most non-judgemental person I have ever met. Thank you, Betty and may God Bless you Betty Griffin....in Eternity.
