Eleanor J. Tibbitts, 96, of New Hartford, died peacefully at home on May 25, 2022.

She was born on October 21, 1925, in Utica, daughter of James and Margaret Kearnes. She graduated from New York Mills High School in 1943. She married Charles Tibbitts on June 25, 1949, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Utica and shared a wonderful marriage of sixty years together focused on their family. Charles passed away in 2010. Eleanor enjoyed family celebrations, camping at Stillwater and taking cruises in the winter months. She was an original member of the Friends and Neighbors Club for over fifty years.

She is survived by her four children and spouses; Scott Tibbitts and his wife Eileen, of Sauquoit, Dean Tibbitts and his wife Cheryl, of Clayville, Mary Campbell and her husband, Joel of Waterville, and Bruce Tibbitts and his wife, Cheryl of Clay; grandchildren, Jonathan Tibbitts, Justin and Rebecca Tibbitts, Charles Tibbitts, Christopher and Erica Tibbitts, Rebecca and Greg Calidonna, Sean and Elizabeth Campbell, Joanne and Mark Thompson, Christine and Ronald Viola, Shane Tibbitts, Seth and Adriana Tibbitts, Trisha and Daniel Wall; great-grandchildren; Alexander, Ava, Adeline and Adler Tibbitts, Max and Mason Tibbitts, Charlie Tibbitts, Nora, Allie and Emma Calidonna, Thaddeus and Harper Tibbitts, Cole and Jake Campbell, Samuel and Eleanor Thompson, Asher and Parker Viola, Victor and Carmen Tibbitts and sister-in-law Nancy Burns.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 27, at 11:00 at Crown Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to join the family for Celebration of Life at Cavallo’s in New Hartford at 12:00. Arrangments are with the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, New Hartford.

The family would like to offer the sincerest thanks and appreciation to Beth, Edna, Lil, Rose, and Sue Stoltzfus for the compassionate care they gave Mom that enabled her to stay in her home. We will be forever grateful.
