The Donovan Family offers our sincere and heartfelt condolences to Barbara and the family over Ed's passing. Such a good man! Difficult to put in words how much I personally respected him and how much I learned from him during the years we worked together on Senator Donovan's staff. Our family will always be grateful to Ed for having penned the biography on Senator Donovan's legislative career, "Donovan: State Senator: 1966-1990," much of which Ed played an important role, including the siting of SUNY Poly at the Marcy Campus site. Ed was a talented writer and keen political observer and played a significant supporting role in advancing the economic, educational and cultural aspects of the Mohawk Valley during the 16 years he worked with Senator Donovan. If one reads the biography (available at local libraries) you can better appreciate the many aspects of living in the Mohawk Valley that Ed had contributed to. His obituary aptly described him as the Senator's "right-hand man." May your faith and wonderful memories sustain you at this most difficult time.
With deep love and respect,

- Jerome Donovan

I knew Ed and he was a very caring individual who helped so many during his career as a journalist and as City Administrator for the City of Utica. As a New York State Senate assistant and right-hand man to the good NYS Senator James H. Donovan. Ed helped so many people, businesses and educational institutions. God bless Ed and we will remember you!
