Dr. Kenneth Doncourt Graniero

Although I never had the privilege of meeting Dr. Graniero in person, his reputation as both a surgeon and father preceded him. As a healthcare professional myself, I often walked by plaques hung on hospital walls illustriously displaying his name. It was also commonplace to hear his name mentioned by others. Regularly, in these instances, I would hear of his patience, his kindness, and his enthusiasm for his work - typified by the absolute dedication to his patients. Such encounters were commonplace.

Additionally, Dr. Kenneth Graniero was seemingly one of the most devoted fathers. His namesake, Ken Graniero (of Syracuse) - my closest friend - would share stories with me regularly about how Dr. Graniero worked tirelessly to be the best thoracic surgeon this area had to offer. Never did Dr. Graniero bring home the weighty, and often somber, nature of his work. He was able to balance these better than almost anyone.

Ken was a truly impressive doctor, father, husband and friend.

The LaFache family will miss Dr. Graniero dearly. Nearly all of us knew him personally or could share second hand stories about him. He was a true treasure to the Utica area, and his accomplishments as a cardio thoracic surgeon cannot be overstated, nor his humility and dedication to his family.

Love and prayers to his family.

Truly,
Anthony and Tony LaFache; Taylor Gonyea, et. al.

Kenny G was my colleague in Utica for many years. He was a good surgeon and had a great attitude towards life. You could always count on Kenny G to make the best of any situation and encourage you to go forward when the chips where down. He will be missed! Bob Wasiczko

I knew his Mom and Dad well, and got to know Kenny better when he arrived in Bologna to study. Enjoyed showing him around in the early days there. In fact he was my Best Man at my Wedding in Bologna in 1972. Always loved his kind, positive outlook on life. I'm sure he will be missed by all, especially his family. My heart goes out to all of them.

I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Graniero's passing. As,a. ER nurse it was always a pleasure to be in charge when he was the trauma surgeon on call. After 35 years with St. Es I always knew who I could count on. He was at the top of the list. My prayers are with the family at this time.????????????

I will always remember with a smile on my face time spent in the O R with Dr Graniero. I would always tease him and tell him what a gentleman his Dad was . Kenny G (as he was affectionately known as), would give me that impish smile. Rest In Peace knowing you left this world a better place for having been in it. I will remember you always.

Dear Lisa, Tony, Kenny, Robin, and Laura,
Sending each of you love and support during this time of mourning and remembrance. I loved Uncle Kenny very much and have many fond memories of him -especially at Christmastime, surrounded by the sound his gregarious self, his laughter and his huge, warm hugs! He was always sweetly poking fun at Aunt Didi and my Nana Julie, and they were so happy to bask in the glow of his love. He made a deep impact on my life.

I felt a deep sense of loss when I heard of Uncle Kenny's passing - he was such a strong, gentle, and wonderful person.

I hope you feel surrounded by love.
Love,
Claire (Pacilio), Ethan, and Miles Moitra
