In Memory of Deborah Riddell

Obituary

Deborah Riddell, 60, of Utica, died on Thursday, December 26, 2019, at the Siegenthaler Center.

She was born March 2, 1959, in Utica, a daughter of the late Glenn and Virginia Roy Poppleton. Debbie graduated from Whitesboro High School and the College of Saint Rose where she received a Masters Degree in Special Education in Math. On March 21, 1981, in Utica, Debbie married Christopher Riddell. Debbie worked the Utica School District as a math special education teacher.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of New Hartford and was also a member of the Daughters of American Revolution. With her free time, she enjoyed reading and knitting.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband, Christopher of Utica; two sons, Andrew Riddell and his wife, Ashley of Maryland and Justin Riddell of Utica; granddaughter, Quinn Riddell; two brothers, Brad Poppleton of Vermont and Mark Poppleton and his husband, David Dial of New York. She is also survived by her father in law and mother in law, Jerry and Nancy Riddell of Claysville and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to offer a very special thank you to all the staff at the Siegenthaler Center for the care and comfort given to Debbie.

The funeral will be on Saturday at 12:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church of New Hartford, 105 Genesee St., New Hartford. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Saturday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm prior to the funeral at the church. Arrangements are with the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
