Daniel L. Clark, 70, of Utica, died peacefully at home, November 11, 2018 with his loving wife at his side, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

He was born February 4, 1948 in Buffalo, NY the son of the late Edgar and Phyllis Hurd Clark. He graduated from the University of Buffalo with a degree in Psychology. Dan served in the US Army National Guard from 1969 to 2010, including a tour of duty in Afghanistan at the age of 60. He was discharged with the rank of CW-4.

Dan married Diane Harris on September 5, 1970 in North Collins, NY.

He worked for many years with New York DeMolay and later with the Masonic Care Community and Folts Home in charge of public relations. He then worked for the National Guard until his retirement in 2010.

Dan was a member of the former Central United Methodist Church, Oriental-Faxton Lodge # 224 F & AM and awarded the 33rd Degree, he was also a member of the Scottish and York Rite and the Ziyara Shriners. He was also a member of the Board of Directors for the Neighborhood Center of Utica.

Dan loved running and was actively involved in the Utica Boilermaker.

He was a loving Husband and Father and cared deeply about his family.

Dan is survived by his wife Diane; his son Daniel and wife Charlene of Albany, his daughter Melanie Kowalick and her husband Tony of Clifton Park, NY, his grandchildren, Jennifer Shields and husband Matt, Jeremy Clark and wife Maggie, Jocelyn, Camille and Trey, five great-grandchildren Kylie, Channing, Payton, Marley and Maycee; his sisters Dawn Bolden of Rochester, and Diane Newton and husband Bill of Rochester and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks the caregivers at Hospice for all of their care for Dan.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, November 19, at 11:00 AM at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford. Military Honors will be offered at the conclusion of the service. Oriental-Faxton Lodge # 224 F & AM will conduct ritualistic services and 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dan’s memory may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
