Many wonderful conversations with Jim on his patio. Recalling stories of his wife, daughter, family and friends (to many to count). I salute his service to family, community, state and nation. From Ketal One martini (medicine) of coarse, to just great, interesting advise. You have gone to the highest command- farewell. May God continue to bless your family- Jim Nolan

Oh my goodness I’m am so sorry to see this fine HCCC personnel who I was in his office in the late 1970’s (77-79) as a Journalism student there. Mr. Hill (Dean Hill?) was of the finest, most helpful and kind person. It’s been years since my graduation at HCCC but I have remembered him as being such an exemplary professional. Condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and our community. I’m very sorry.

I was a student in Professor Hill's Business Law class in 1973. He was gifted in his ability to teach and engage with his students. He brought his real world experiences into the classroom and provided a world view to our small outlook. I respected him, admired him and always remembered him. You have my condolences.

I worked for Mr. Hill in the Business Office of Herkimer County Community College from 1973 till his retirement in 1986. He was a good person to work for as he was a caring person. He was friends with my father as they were both Army men and cared about Veteran's issues. I offer my condolences for the passing of your father and grandfather. I will hold your family in my prayers. Kathy Crowe

The world was a better place because Jim was in it!! This was not mentioned in his obituary...but Jim started a women's mentoring group that is still active today. Local women gather once a month to network ... each one taking a turn to host at their place of employment. He was the ultimate advocate for women!!! I will miss seeing him each week, and my hug and kiss! What a legacy he leaves in his daughter, grandchildren and great grand children...and great great grandchildren! Jim is one in a million! I'm so blessed to have known him! Rest in Eternal peace with your one true love! xo

Jim was one of the good guys. We met years ago when I was Opinion Page editor at the Observer-Dispatch and formed a fast friendship. He was a staunch supporter of this community, especially its young people and lauded the O-D’s Teen All-Star program. But his priority was his family, which he spoke of often. What a great man, and a great loss for us all.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Jim was a friend and mentor, a great champion of professional women throughout the Mohawk Valley and always a delight to be with. But he most delighted in talking about his children and grandchildren. He is remembered with great fondness and respect.
