Cheryl Lynn (Reece) Waterman, 62, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on October 31, 2022.

Cheryl was born on August 16, 1960, in Utica, NY, the eldest daughter of Clifford and Marjorie Reece of Utica. She was a graduate of Mount Markham High school and graduated from SUNY Oswego with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Fine Arts.

Cheryl worked as an actuary for a large insurance company in Rochester, and Utica National Insurance.

She attend Immanuel Baptist Church, New Hartford, where she accepted Jesus as he Saviour and was Baptized as a young girl. Her strong faith and walk with the Lord was the most important part of her life.

Cheryl was a passionate and talented artist, winning awards for her paintings and creating beautiful pottery that she sold in different venues.

She was known for her love of animals. As a young woman, she was an avid equestrian, and later in life, raised and showed Saluki dogs. She was a faithful supporter of the National Humane Society.

Cheryl is predeceased by her parents Clifford and Marjorie Reece and her beloved grandmother Ethel Reece.

She is survived by her siblings, Tracy Reece of Yorkville, Eric Reece of Clinton, sister and brother-in-law Amy and Thomas O’Brien of Stuart, FL. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Mitchell Reece of Waterville, Hannah Reece of Clinton, Lindsey Reece of Yorkville and great nieces Marley and Ayla Hardy as well as many cousins.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Staff of Upstate Cancer Center and the extraordinary nurses and staff of Upstate University Hospital Oncology Floor for their compassionate care of Cheryl.

A special thank you to Pastor Fletch Matlack of Immanuel Baptist Church, New Hartford and Rev. Precious of Syracuse for their spiritual care of Cheryl.

A private family visitation will be held at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford. A graveside service will be held Friday at 1:30 PM at New Forest Cemetery, Utica.
