Obituary

Beatrice Olson Beekman passed away peacefully on Oct 3, 2021 at the age of 99, at the Masonic Care Community in Utica, NY where she lived for the last 12 years.

She was born in Delong, PA on January 7, 1922, and was the last survivor of 8 children of Peter and Hilda Olson from Sweden.

Bea enjoyed traveling to many Navy reunions with her husband, and family trips to Florida and Las Vegas. Bea loved playing the piano, organ and drums, which she learned back in High School, and was lead drummer in a drum and bugle corps in Buffalo, NY. She also enjoyed baking and sewing and was called “Mom” by many who knew her.

Bea was predeceased by her husband Donald of 69 years. She is survived by her 3 children, Jon(Joy) Beekman of Fayette Maine, Judy(Louie) Franz of New Hartford, NY and Wendy(Larry) Woodhouse of Manlius, NY. She also leaves her 4 grandchildren who she was very proud of, Michael Franz and his fiancé Kaitlyn Benjamin, Shannon (David) Koscinski, Matthew (Kim) Beekman, Todd (Kristen) Beekman. Bea was also proud of her ten great grandchildren. In addition, she leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins, a former daughter-in-law Barb Beekman, also Ceil Stressel and Dayna Franz who were part of her life.

Bea will be missed by all, remembered by many and loved by everyone her life touched.

The family is especially appreciative of the love and care provided to Bea by the wonderful employees of the Masonic Care Community.

There will be no calling hours and services will be private for family only.
